Los Angeles-via-Ohio band Line & Circle will embark on a west coast tour this month with Arthur Buck, the new supergroup featuring R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck and singer/songwriter Joseph Arthur. The four-date trek will visit the Crocodile in Seattle (Sept. 7), the Doug Fir Lounge in Portland (Sept. 8), the Independent in San Francisco (Sept. 10) and the Teragram Ballroom in the band's home base (Sept. 11). Line & Circle previously toured the U.S. with Arthur and his band RNDM, which features Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament. Tickets for these shows are available here.
In addition, Line & Circle will on Sept. 7 release the single "Full Disclosure," its first new music since last year's EP Vicious Folly. Produced by longtime collaborator Lewis Pesacov in Los Angeles and mixed by Jonathan Low and Brian McTear in Philadelphia, the song addresses the difficulties in moving on from a relationship without knowing why it came to an end. Stream "Full Disclosure" here.
Line & Circle combines early 4AD dream pop with chiming I.R.S. Records-era guitar rock to create melodically rich and rhythmically urgent pop music. The group's sound has been equated to "Michael Stipe jamming with Johnny Marr" (Rolling Stone) and praised as "jangly, dreamy guitar-pop of the highest caliber" (Stereogum) and "post-modern and majestic" (KEXP).
Line & Circle arrived on the national scene in 2012 after releasing its debut 7” single “Roman Ruins”/“Carelessness” on White Iris Records, which received wide acclaim and landed on a number of critics’ Best Song of The Year polls on both sides of the Atlantic. The band’s debut full length Split Figure arrived in 2015 and followed suit, appearing on The A.V. Club’s ballots for best albums and best singles (“Like A Statue”) of the year.
